‘With Love We Grow’
WELCOME

Admissions

The application window for school places starting September 2025 opens in September and closes on 15th January 2025. We will hold 'Open Sessions' in October for prospective parents and children to have a look around the school. We very much look forward to this occasion when our Year 6 children act as guides and ambassadors for our lovely school.

Evidence of baptism is required as part of the process for Catholic chidlren.  We recommend that parents take prompt action if baptism has not already taken place, in particular because of lockdown. For those children of other faiths seeking a place in a Catholic school there is no requirement for evidence of attendance; a baptism certificate or confirmation in writing that the applicant is a member of their faith community from an appropriate minister of religion is the requirement in this circumstance. Children with no faith background are very welcome to apply for a place at St Joseph's.

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

We currently have places in all years except Reception, Years 1,2,3,4 & 5.

In-year admission is the process of applying for a school place during the school year. Any application for the intake made after the start of the autumn term will be treated as an in-year application.

The in-year admission process is managed by school. Parents are required to complete the in-year application form, which is available below. Where a place cannot be secured, parents will be offered a legal right to appeal to an independent appeal panel. Lancashire County Council administers the appeals process on behalf of the school. Parents can complete the school's appeal form Appeal for a school place - Lancashire County Council on Lancashire county council's website.

In Year Admissions

For 'In-Year' admissions please contact the school office to discuss this further and to request an application form. Tel 01257 480598 email bursar@st-josephs-anderton.lancs.sch.uk

Should a place in your required year group be unavailable you have a right to appeal to the Local Authority as above for a place at our school. Should more than one application be received, appealing for any one place, then our admissions criteria will be applied against each application in order to rank them accordingly.

Any admission appeals must be returned directly to our school and will be sent to the local authority with supporting documentation from school within 5 days of receipt (subject to school holidays).

Lancashire County Council Link to Schools' Admission Page for more information, including information about the appeals process.
